International Workshop on DIGITAL 3D HERITAGE. Exploring 3D- Modelling in Education, Documentation and Dissemination, Learning, teaching and training activities: COVHER, Mainz Meeting, 6-13 September 2023

This second CoVHer workshop brought together selected students from partner universities in Barcelona, Bologna, Porto, Warsaw, Mainz, and Lodz for an intensive week of collaboration. Participants worked in teams to develop projects, which they later presented to the public during the 3rd International Multiplier Event. The event also welcomed guest speakers from institutions with extensive experience in digital 3D reconstruction of lost architecture and digital cultural education.

During the workshop, all topics related to the four project results were addressed: methodologies for the construction and validation of 3D models, the analysis of selected case studies, the use of the CoVHer 3D repository platform, and the implementation of blended learning approaches.

Part of the workshop activities were conducted online before the in-person event. In July 2023, four online sessions of three hours each were organized to introduce key concepts and best practices to be developed during the workshop. Specifically, all the necessary theoretical and practical information was provided to use digital tools related to the reconstruction of unbuilt or lost architectural structures. Particular attention was given to the use of the CoVHer 3D repository platform.

Some activities were dedicated to visits to sites and institutions related to the topic of hypothetical virtual reconstructions, with a particular focus on the case studies examined and the themes developed within the project.
